The Robbe Family Kitchen

1st Grade
Offered each November

Each November, the Peterborough Historical Society invites first grade classes to a hands-on, pre-Thanksgiving event in the Robbe Family Kitchen. At the great brick fireplace children see and handle utensils used in open hearth cooking and help to "cook" some food from the past. The focus is on food and it's preparation, so children can also sample some goodies and discuss how people prepared food and cooked for themselves.

The programs last about one hour and are given during the morning.

New Hampshire Social Studies Standards addressed via this program include curriculum standards: #5, 6, 16.
