Gordon Peery

President

Gordon first connected with Peterborough when he worked as a chef at the newly founded Folkway Restaurant and Coffeehouse in 1975. He became involved with the Peterborough Historical Society during The Folkway Remembered exhibit and concert serieis in 2009 - 2010. Gordon's eclectic professional portfolio includes (in addition to being a chef), a landscaper, carpenter, music teacher, magazine publishing executive, freelance writer, marketing consultant,  web site designer and business manager. He is well known as a contra dance piano player; has played at contra dances all over the US and has contributed to several recordings of contra dance music.

Gordon also serves as secretary of the Board of Directors of the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce.

Lorraine Walker

Vice President

Lorraine grew up in Peterborough. She and her 4 siblings helped in the family business that consisted of home milk delivery and their ice cream stand in South Peterborough (current home of the Pizza Barn). After college Lorraine taught middle and high school math for 14 years in the ConVal school district. She’s currently the Math Program Manager for SDE and spends her time developing and writing math products and trainings.

She and her husband Butch live on Pine St.

Deb Fredericks

Treasurer

Deb grew up in Durango, Colorado but has lived in Peterborough 34 years. She likes to think she is almost a native, but is constantly reminded that she isn’t and never will be. J Deb is the publishing coordinator for Crystal Springs Books (book division of SDE). When she isn’t working you can find her on the softball fields, volleyball courts, kayaking, gardening and walking her dog.

Doug Copley

Doug is a retired teacher and school administrator from England where he used to teach Physics at a state upper (high) school.

His son is an engineer who travels globally and his daughter is a project manager for Network Rail; both live in England.  He also has a 9 year old grandson.  Doug and his wife have lived in Peterborough for 17 years and enjoy hiking in the countryside.  They also appreciate the art and music of this area.  To understand and know a town one must be aware of its history, hence Doug’s involvement in Peterborough Historical Society.  His hope for the Peterborough Historical Society is for the organization to continue celebrating Our Town’s past and involving more residents in its programs.

Joe Cummings

Joe is a native of Peterborough, born at Monadnock Hospital. He attended local schools and graduated from Dublin School. He then attended Rochester Institute of Technology and received a bachelor degree in Printing. After taking a year off to ski Joe returned to Peterborough to bring the new technology he had learned at RIT to the Peterborough Transcript, a printing and publishing business his family had owned since 1900. He ran that business for 35 years.

Joe is now semi retired and drives a school bus for the Conval School District.  Joe and his wife Elain have four children, two of whom have settled in the area. They also now have three grandchildren.

Flossie Junkala

Flossie has two little girls who are 2 and 4 and who keep her on her toes. She works for People’s United Bank during the day and has her own business being an Undercover Wear Agent.  She is New Hampshire resident born and raised.  and enjoys being a Peterborough resident and working in the community. She has her BA in US History form New England College and is a member of Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.  

Liz Lawler

Liz Lawler grew up in Dublin and now lives in Hancock with her wonderful dog, Maggie with whom she takes lots of hikes on the trails in this beautiful area.  She has taught at Antrim Elementary school for the past four years and loves seeing her students make discoveries about the world around them.  This is her first year serving on the board of the Historical Society and she is really enjoying learning new things about the place she grew up and calls home.

Andy MacDonald

Andrew is a relatively new Board Member having joined us just this year in 2011.  He was drawn to the Board by his strong interests in the genealogy and history of the New England states, Scotland and England.  Andrew has been a member of the Monadnock community since 2000 and a resident of Peterborough since 2004 where he lives with his wife and daughters.  Professionally, Andrew was trained as a Physical Therapist.  His interests lead him to a Masters in Management at New England College and an administrative position at Monadnock Community Hospital in 2000.  He currently works with departments such as Radiology, Lab, Planning and the Bond Wellness Center.  Andrew proudly recalls his participation in the design and start-up of the Center and is a ten year member himself. 

Aside from his passion for genealogy, other hobbies include photography and wine tasting.

Greg Scerbinski

Webmaster

Greg grew up in Brooklyn, NY, attended Fordham University, worked on Wall St., and taught several years in the NYC public schools.  After moving to the Peterborough wilderness, Greg taught U.S. History and Social Studies for 34 years at ConVal HS.  He now designs websites, coaches collegiate golf, and follows the tides fishing for bluefish and striped bass on Cape Cod. 

He lives with his wife in Peterborough.
