The Peterborough Historical Society

Founded in 1902 by a group of prominent citizens, the Peterborough Historical Society has grown into a community museum, education resource and research center.   Its purpose is to preserve, interpret, and celebrate Peterborough , New Hampshire's history as information and inspiration for our lives today and in the future.

The Folkway Remembered

The Peterborough Historical Society is planning a special exhibit that celebrates the years that folk music found a home at the legendary Folkway.

The exhibit will open in February 2010.

Do you have photos, videos, recordings, artifacts or other memorabilia that can help us tell the story of the Folkway?

We would love to consider them for inclusion in the exhibit and to make copies for our archives.

Please post your comments and upload your items.

What's for Dinner?

Food and Cooking over the last 200 years
A new exhibit open through June 2009

Come explore how we put dinner on the table over the last 200 years! Test your knowledge of kitchen equipment with the "What is it?" quiz.

Dr. Kendall Osgood's 1780's diary reveals what folks were eating in the early days. How would your family like a dinner of hog's feet and haslet?

The exhibit is rounded out with a look at grocery prices from the early 19th century through today and a selection of local recipes including apple snow and toad in the hole.
